We are seeking a Policy and Procedure Specialist who will advise on the development and maintenance of all policies, procedures and job aids. Provides training and advises leaders on the process, facilitates completion and approval of documents and assures that documents are stored and available. Collaborates with other policy and procedure owners to eliminate duplication or gaps and to manage overlap. Functions as an expert in patient safety, especially as related to incorporating safety behaviors for error prevention into guidance documents.
In this position you will:
Oversees and facilitates teams to develop and revise policies, procedures and job aids:
Coaches individuals and teams on how to incorporate behaviors for error prevention into guidance documents
Facilitates teams to achieve consensus on care practices and to reduce/eliminate barriers
Ensures that best practices and relevant professional practice guidelines are incorporated into documents
Assures that regulatory requirements and accreditation standards are represented in guidance documents
Coaches process owners to include all key stakeholders who provide the needed subject matter expertise, evidence or informed opinions
Works collaboratively with policy owners to eliminate overlap, duplication or inconsistent messages and takes action to resolve the situation
Edits all documents for format, consistency and impeccable spelling and grammatical accuracy
Oversees the review, approval and maintenance of policies, procedures and job aids:
Coordinates the process and assures that the guidance document moves through the specified approval system
Prepares/finalizes documents for publication
Posts all documents in a timely manne
Works with process owners to guide on ways to implement policies
Ensures a back-up system process
Assures that inactive files are appropriately maintained and archive
Oversees and provides direction for document revision according to the established guidelines.
Continually works to improve the process for developing, revising or maintaining guidance documents
Assist with teaching identified leaders and staff the “Focus and Simplify” methods
Provides clarity on which type of document would best fit the need
Conducts formal and informal training
Provides coaching or acts as a resource to simplify documents to improve clarity
Assists authors to incorporate safety behaviors into documents
Works with others to balance the need for content with the need to provide a clear and concise document
Coaches others to uses visual aids, diagrams, and color photos when appropriate to better inform the reader
Functions as an expert in patient safety, especially as related to incorporating safety behaviors into guidance documents and connecting this phenomenon to human performance and error prevention
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Fire and Life Safety Cert
3 years Healthcare experience
Communicates effectively with all staff in a manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture and background and proactively seeking out solutions to improve communications and teamwork
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with staff and physicians
Demonstrated ability to work independently, make sound decisions and handle stress
Knowledge of computer operations
Flexibility in work schedule and reliable transportation
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Associate's Degree or Higher education credits
2 years experience in a clinical role in an acute care setting
Preferred demonstrated ability to work in partnership with Nurse Managers, Physician partners and other key stakeholders.
Preferred ability to communicate a shared vision
Holds self and others accountable for actions and outcomes
