We are seeking a Physical Therapist who will be responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in accordance with regulatory agencies and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). The Physical Therapist demonstrates proficient clinical knowledge and skills in providing and initiating treatment programs for individuals with physical impairments. Utilizing a collaborative team approach, the physical therapist accurately assesses patients' needs: identifies and initiates appropriate physical therapy interventions. Providing care to; pediatric, adolescent, young, middle and older adult patients.

In this position you will:

  • Comply with hospital, department, and unit standards, including but not limited to, safety, infection control, quality management, confidentiality, mandatory education, and competencies

  • Facilitate teamwork and effective communication between physicians, staff, and administration by participating in an environment characterized by the core values of Providence

  • Practice in a professional, collaborative, and proactive manner in all interactions with patients, visitors, physicians, and caregivers

  • Demonstrating flexibility adjusting to changes in patient acuity and workload

  • Participating in committees and special projects as assigned

  • Identifying risk management issues, taking appropriate actions, and communicating unresolved issues through the appropriate channels

  • Participate in the provision of care:

  • Perform patient assessments

  • Formulate goal directed plans of care based on patient outcomes

  • Initiate, individualize, and modifies plans of care

  • Collaborate with other services

  • Implement care based on department, hospital, and national standards:

  • Follow established protocols and procedures

  • Follow APTA and California PT Board Licensing guidelines

  • Demonstrate competency in select skills including, but not limited to:

  • Performing evaluations such as wounds, lymphedema, strength, sensation, gait, balance, and function

  • Performing techniques such as gait training, transfer training, therapeutic exercise, balance, and neuromuscular re-education

  • Performing treatments in lymphedema and wound care

  • Utilizes equipment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation devices, TENS, light therapy and laser therapy

  • Establish physical therapy goals (short and long term), plan of treatment and rehab potential in conjunction with the patient, their support system, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to select the most appropriate program for individual patients, based on patient needs and capabilities.

  • Formulate an appropriate discharge plan, re-evaluates the patient, and adjusts goals and plan when necessary

  • Identify patient/family/caregiver learning needs and provides appropriate education

  • Demonstrate applied knowledge when caring for selected patient populations including care appropriate to the age of patients served

  • Areas of specialty may include, but not limited to: Orthopedics, Stroke/Neurologic, Oncology, Lymphedema, ICU, Cardiac, Parkinson’s (LSVT-BIG), NICU/Infant, Post-Surgical, Pediatrics, Wound Care and Vestibular

  • Practice stewardship in the delivery of care reflecting financial goals of the organization:

  • Use available resources efficiently

  • Demonstrate understanding of overall unit needs and using downtime to assist others

  • Prioritize commitments and manages multiple tasks effectively

  • Meet established productivity standards of the department

  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in regards to:

  • Attendance and punctuality

  • Comply with department minimum shift requirements and time off procedures

  • Positive customer service; compassionate care, and effective teamwork

  • Obtains necessary knowledge and skills needed to maintain competence

  • Completes all mandatory requirements including current licensure and BLS/RQI

  • Meets all regulatory compliance standards (e.g. Joint Commission, Title 22, and HIPAA)

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Specific to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) assignment:

  • Participate in NICU discharge planning conferences, case and family conferences, and discharge planning activities

  • Coordinate with CCS Case Manager for referral to CCS-Paneled provider or CCS Medical Therapy Unit (MTU) for patients who continue to require therapy services after hospital discharge


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accredited Physical Therapy Program

  • California State Physical Therapy License

  • BLS/RQI certificate

  • For NICU-1 year of clinical experience providing PT to infants or children with CCS eligible medical condition

  • Good working knowledge of general and specialized clinical equipment

  • Able to perform all physical requirements pertaining to delegated tasks

  • Able to organize and prioritize work, completes assignments on time

  • Able to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative working relationship with patients, families and coworkers

  • Able to type and use a computer efficiently

  • Able to work effectively independently and with a team

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Master's Degree -or- D.P.T in Accredited Physical Therapy Program

  • Experience in an adult physical disability setting
