We are seeking a Grill Cook who will prepare, season and cook short order food for cafeteria customers.
In this position you will:
Implement and maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives as well as quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control policies.
Preview menus and work orders to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts to be obtained and prepared.
Plan and coordinate cooking schedules so that foods will be ready at required times. Confer with manager/supervisor regarding preparation and use of leftovers.
Greet all customers promptly and courteously. Resolve customer complaints with tact and discretion.
Prepare, season and cook food.
Procure food stuffs/supplies from refrigerator, freezer and other storage areas to use at the grill station.
Use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slices, mixers and blenders.
Ensure all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste, temperature, and appearance.
Ensure that all cooking equipment and utensils are inspected and maintained for cleanliness and proper operation.
Ensure required sanitary levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process.
Alert supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies. Detect and report spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions.
Maintain accurate service records and reports; records amounts and leftover after each meal service.
Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
Clean assigned areas following established cleaning procedures and schedules.
Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings.
Attend meetings as required.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Coursework/Training in institutional food preparation
1 year cooking experience, preferably as a grill/short order cook
Knowledge of cooking methods/procedures, including types of preparation and related routines
