We are seeking a CME Credentialing Coordinator who will responsible for development of educational programs for the medical staff to ensure compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, The Joint Commission (TJC), CMA CME Standards and other regulatory agencies. Facilitates all aspects of CME activities including needs assessments, prioritization of topics, development of goals and objectives, speakers, and outcomes for physicians and allied health practitioners. Collaborates with administration and physicians to meet the needs of the medical staff, i.e., education related to regulatory compliance/updates, quality issues, patient safety, etc. Interfaces with Quality Management Staff and physicians to provide and interpret relevant data for identification of educational needs through performance improvement.
Perform duties in support of the administrative operations of the PHCMC Medical Staff Office including but not limited to processing primary source verifications associated with providers requesting initial or reappointment or additional privileges at PCHMC. This position requires attention to detail and includes maintaining confidentiality of medical staff provider records and documents. This position requires accurate use of Microsoft Office Suite software as well as continuing education, credentialing and MDStaff software and other reporting software such as Infoview. This position will perform duties in support to medical staff governance committees including drafting and managing related communications and documentation. This position is required to learn and perform responsibilities in compliance with State and Federal laws as well as CMS Conditions of Participation and other accrediting organizations.
In this position you will :
Continuing Medical Education:
Work effectively, confidently and pro-actively with others in the department, physicians, administration and other hospital personnel.
Prepare, organize, direct, conduct, supervise, and evaluate programs for medical staff education in conjunction with Director of Medical Education and CME Committee.
Develop, implement and administer continuing education for medical staff.
Interface effectively with the quality management division to integrate quality of care and risk management findings into CME activities.
Maintain medical staff educational records.
Remain knowledgeable of requirements for approval as a CME Category I provider and coordinates preparation for IMQ/CMA CME survey.
Develop and recommends CME operating budget and ensures that the CME program operates within budget.
Oversee collection, deposit and distribution of educational grants and Maintain related accounting records.
Maintain personal adherence to professional confidentiality standards established within the Department and in accordance with legal, ethical, and hospital policies.
Prepare reports for submission to the Quality Management Committee and Medical Executive Committee. These reports shall include relevant findings, actions required and quality improvement activities.
Conduct research and development of CME related documents and policies & procedures.
Assist in special departmental projects.
Participate in departmental meetings, educational activities and in service meetings.
Maintain communication flow and information sharing between departments/facilities.
Prioritize schedule according to needs of the Medical Staff with regular interruptions.
Attend to details related to physician medical education as defined by State and Federal requirements and the Bylaws, Rules & Regulations of the Medical Staff Organization.
Demonstrate knowledge and application of confidentiality requirements including requirements associated with HIPAA and peer review protections.
Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare terminology specific to the responsibility and functions associated with the Medical Staff Offices.
Demonstrate knowledge of credentialing and privileging procedures and requirements for PCHMC Medical Staff.
Demonstrate knowledge of The Joint Commission's standards and other regulatory agencies' requirements related to medical staff.
Demonstrate knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws related to medical staff.
Demonstrate knowledge of record and document management procedures.
Demonstrate ability to accurately document within credentialing and privileging software and self-auditing in order to verify data accuracy.
Demonstrate knowledge and application of continuous monitoring processes associated with the PCHMC Medical Staff including but not limited to monitoring for current DEA registration, State licensures and current malpractice insurance coverage in the amounts required by PHCMC/PHS.
Demonstrate knowledge regarding collection, tracking and reporting of high volume and time/content sensitive medical staff provider data.
Communications and Writing.
Strong computer, written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills required.
Proficiency in teamwork, facilitation, and diplomacy.
Work collaboratively with PCHMC Medical Staff Office as well as other hospital departments and medical staff providers.
Work collaboratively with outside CME and Medical Staff Office partner groups.
Establish and Maintain open communication to enhance team efforts.
Demonstrate flexibility in response to unexpected changes in work volume, emergencies, staffing and scheduling.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or department manager.
Required qualifications for this position include :
Knowledge of medico/legal issues, State/Federal Regulatory Requirements, The Joint Commission (TJC) and Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) / California Medical Association (CMA) Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Standards.
Familiar with interpreting Quality Management Data.
Independent problem solving and decision-making abilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Computer literacy’ data base management & familiarity with Wireless Internet access.
Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology.
Establish and maintain filing systems.
Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Meeting Place or other remote access technology).
Ability to generate reports, i.e., planned CME activities, for medical staff meetings.
Preferred qualifications for this position include :
Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Education, Business Administration or related field or equivalent educ/experience.
CCMEP (Certified Continuing Medical Education Professional).
CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Staff Manager) or CPSC (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist).
Three (3) years recent experience as a Credentials Coordinator and/or CME Coordinator.
